and the wine was often Apremont

so of course the conversation often verged on the avalanches of sex, religion and politics.
I was asked about Intelligent Design and managed to recall that this is the new name for an old proof of the existence of God - previously known as the teleological argument.
Immigration and the Rivers of Blood speech were served up with the turbot.
A rare coincidence was that in the group of nine skiers, three of us were from forces families and swapped stories about our schools around the world with which few others are familiar.
